An appeal to all you generous people out there. Help us by donating and spread the word.
We want Children – especially Girls to go to school. And we are sure you do too. You and I know the difference education has made to us and conversely, the lack of it to all the uneducated women we see around. Help us change this.
BAGIYA – a non formal remedial school run by Sanshil Foundation is more than just a regular school for underprivileged children. BAGIYA aims to ‘Touch a Life’ – of a child whose dreams of education would be otherwise just that… ‘Dreams’, and especially girls who bear the brunt of poverty with parents choosing to use their income to pay for the boys’ education vis-à-vis the girl’s.
Take for instance, Arti, daughter of an alcoholic father (Driver by profession) and a harassed mother who makes two ends meet by working as a domestic help, Arti came to BAGIYA a few years back after discontinuing her studies in Grade 8. Our team of volunteers counselled her, convinced her family to let her go to school and saved her from physical abuse by giving her a part time job at BAGIYA and coaching her. We are so happy that today, she has passed her Grade 12 exams and is all set to achieve her dream to ‘work in an office’ in times to come. Arti has enrolled for undergraduate studies and is pursuing a computer literacy course at the same time .
Help Arti and help others like her. In our mind, there is always a season to share happiness and bring light where it is needed most.
